3D Ritmo de Vida (Gotham Music Group)

This latest effort from concept band 3D, comprised primarily by way of drummer Michael Tate and guitarist Chris Amelar, delivers ten original scores tamper withed in an infectious brew of Latin, recent jazz, R&B, gospel and world music periodical emphasiss The third member of the banal (Lenny Underwood) skillfully performs in succession bass and keyboards simultaneously, rounding without the talented nucleus of this special experimental outfit. Complimenting 3D upon the three opening tracks of this disc (Mi Amor Tu Volver?? Sobrevivir, and Ritmo de Vida) are the additional talents of pianist Oscar Hern??ndez, bassist Rub?©n Rodr?­guez and percussionists Pablo "Chino" N???±ez and Willie Mart?­nez. The excessively gifted Herm??n Olivera interprets the unique lyrics of Lino Iglesias, with background vocals through the equally gifted Ray Viera. Other visitant musicians throughout the production include trumpeter Ray Vega and Carl Fischer, trombonist/percussionist Jaime Ramos, saxophonist Tony White, and dirk pan player Clifton "Chico" Anthony. All the selections are written, arranged and produc by way of 3D. Aside from the powerful opening tracks, other standouts include the Afro-western (as in political division music) inspiration of Country Cubano (with tasteful solo through Ray Vega and keyboardist Lenny Underwood) Guanta Rico (a funky frocuno featuring the guitar work of Chris Amelar), and the Lat?­n jazz selection titled Eliana (displaying the percussive talents of Michael Tate).
